There are wedding days that touch your heart, and then there are wedding days that leave you utterly speechless. Grace and Zane’s recent celebration at the historic Seven Springs was absolutely the latter.

The most magical twist of all? The entire day was a complete surprise for the bride and groom, masterfully planned by the Mother of the Bride, Robin, alongside the incredible team at The Hive Wedding Collective.

As an Event Florist in Richmond, Virginia, who frequently creates magic all over the region, we were honored to bring Robin’s vision to life. We got to play with texture, structural elements, and a dynamic color story that evolved as the night went on. Here’s a look inside their breathtaking day!

 
 
 

The Design Aesthetic: Sculptural Meets Organic

For Grace and Zane’s floral vibe, we blended modern, sculptural elements with lush, organic design. The client’s favorite flowers—striking anemones and elegant orchids—served as our structural anchors, giving the arrangements a contemporary edge while maintaining a soft, romantic feel.

A Journey of Color

We loved how Robin wanted to play with color progression throughout the venue spaces:

  • The Ceremony & Personals: We kept things understated and sophisticated with a more neutral palette, letting the textures of the blooms take center stage.

  • The Cocktail Hour: A subtle hint of what was to come, introducing warmer tones to transition guests into the party.

  • The Reception: A full-blown color explosion! The pavilion came alive with a palette of crisp whites, cool and warm pinks, deep rose, soft blush, vibrant coral, and metallic pops of gold.

The Ceremony Showstopper: A Ground Arbor & A Round Platform

For the ceremony, we wanted to create a bespoke moment that felt grounded yet elevated. We framed the couple with a lush ground arbor that swept around a custom round platform rental from Rent-E-Quip. It felt less like a traditional backdrop and more like Grace and Zane were stepping into a secret garden of their own.

To give these Richmond, Virginia Custom Floral Arrangements incredible depth and texture, we packed them with:

  • Local dahlias and mums for that rich, seasonal fullness.

  • Stunning blush anthurium for a modern, glossy pop.

  • Aged pink limelight hydrangeas, which lent a gorgeous, antique dustiness to the color palette.

 

The Reception Showstopper: A Floating Botanical Canopy

When guests walked into the reception space, their jaws dropped. Hanging high above the celebration was another absolute showstopper: a full-coverage installation on the venue’s chandelier. We transformed the light fixture into a living, breathing botanical canopy. We packed it with loads of fluffy ferns for lush, tactile volume, and wove in cascading green amaranthus that dripped elegantly over the sides. It brought that perfect touch of Richmond, Virginia Garden-Inspired Florals to the indoor space, making the entire room feel like an enchanted, upscale greenhouse.

Beneath the floating greenery, the color story reached its peak. Tablescapes featured a mix of delicate linens from BBJ LaTavola and curated pieces from Something Vintage Rentals and Select Event Rentals. The warmth of the coral and pink centerpieces paired beautifully with the cool, fresh greens of the chandelier installation above. It was the ultimate setting for a night of pure celebration, especially as The Retreat (Sam Hill Entertainment)kept the dance floor packed all night long!
